Election Information
Election FAQ
Election of the President for 2010 is approaching and with our many new members, many do not know the process to elect our President.
- To be nominated and elected President, the member must be in good standing and an active member of a committee for the previous three months.
- Prior to September, the board will select a nominating committee to review all of the members that meet the qualifications for President and find the best member or members to run for President. This is done to make sure there is at least one qualified nominee for President.
- At the September Monthly Gathering, the member(s) selected by the nominating committee will be nominated for President. The floor then will be opened for any additional nominations for President from the membership.
- The Nominating Committee to verify the nominee meets the requirements to run for President and will review all nominations for President made by the membership.
- If there is more than one nominee for President, each nominee for President will be provided space in the October newsletter and on the web site for an election statement. At the October Monthly Gathering, each nominee will be given a chance to speak and the election will be held by private ballot. Prior to the October Monthly Gathering, the board will select an election committee to handle the election.
- If there is only one nominee for President, the nominee will be provided a chance to speak at the October Monthly Gathering and the election will be held by voice vote.
Nominations for President At Sept. Monthly Gathering
The floor at the September Monthly Gathering will be opened up to accept nominations for the 2010 ASGA President. First the Nominating Committee will nominate at least one member to run for President and then the floor will be opened up for members to make additional nominations for President.
To be eligible to run for President, there are two requirements for a member to meet. They must be in good standing with their membership current and they must be an active member of a committee for the previous three months.
If there is more than one candidate running for President, each candidate will have the opportunity for a campaign statement in the October Newsletter and on the web site. Also each candidate will be allowed to give a speech at the October Monthly Gathering before the election is opened. All current members at the October Monthly Gathering will be eligible to vote by secret ballot.
