Our group of fourteen players experienced a significant change in the weather for this event … earlier in the week
Atlanta had 90-degree highs. I don’t think the high ever reached 65 degrees while we were playing at BridgeMill. We had a steady
breeze throughout the day, with extremely limited sun. In spite of the cool conditions, the group had a terrific time. The course
was in decent shape, with the fairways still too bare for my tastes. The greens were fast, so these were a challenge at times.
The course winds through a housing subdivision; our group was amazed at the sizes of some homes, including the backyards.
Eleven players ended their day by relaxing over drinks and dinner at the Little River Grill Restaurant. Unfortunately it
was too cool to sit out on the deck overlooking Lake Allatoona. We watched the end of the Players Championship, which
was very exciting!

On Saturday April 23, 16 ASGA golfers played St. Marlo in pleasant spring conditions. We welcomed Fred Weider to his
first ASGA event. We also were joined by Jim Droege. Jim, do not be a stranger. We enjoyed your company and you won a closest to
the pin prize !!!
After golf, 13 golfers enjoyed dinner, drinks and stories at Applebees. John Cunningham's daughter, Gina, was the life of the party !! Gina, I did not realize
a girl as young and pretty as you can replace a complete transmission on an automobile !!!

Due to the heavy rain Friday night, fourteen players and one rider were ‘greeted’ with cart-path only conditions at the course.
The good news is we still completed our rounds in a little over four hours!! The course has wide fairways, so at times it seemed like
we were walking forever as we crossed the entire width of the fairway over and over again. All I can say is not very good
cart-path management! Overall the course was in great shape. The greens were fast, so this took a few holes to adjust.
My group had a wild-life sighting with two deer near the tee box. They both darted across the fairway, through the bunkers,
and into the woods on the other side. Some of the players ended their day by relaxing over drinks and dinner at Outlaw’s Steak
and Seafood Restaurant in McDonough. A SPECIAL THANKS to Diane Gunn and Keith Russell, who graciously agreed to be responsible
for the dinner activities, which included handing out the prize money. I went to the Tim McGraw concert at Lakewood Amphitheatre
(which was fabulous!!!).
CONGRATULATIONS to the Prize Hole Winners:

Mother Nature came close to not cooperating with us for this event. Since this is my favorite Canongate course, there was no way I wanted to cancel the event. Luckily fourteen players ‘braved’ the long drive to Forsyth, GA. I had rain-gear on for close to two holes around the 8th hole, and then we had some sprinkles later in the round. The greens had just been aerated, so there was a significant amount of sand and punched holes. I recommended that everyone record no more than two putts per hole. The fairways were not as lush, but this is normal for the winter season. As my group was playing the 16th hole, we heard thunder in the distance and this continued until we finished the 18th hole. We had just loaded up the cars and the skies opened up with a HEAVY downpour!! Unfortunately the drive north to McDonough was extremely slow, I am assuming due to the standing water and volume of cars on I-75. We finally made it to Outlaw’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant and had a relaxing dinner. Some of us were challenged with getting NCAA Men’s Basketball score updates during dinner, since the TV was not in viewing range. Thanks to everyone who played this event … it was a blast!

Every time I play this course I am reminded of how much I like it!!! It is definitely a challenge, but a good one. Fourteen players participated in this event. We had terrific weather, especially for March. The wind gusted at times, but even this was manageable for the most part. The fairways were still quite bare, so I am looking forward to spring golf when hopefully there will be more grass on the fairways. Following golf, we relaxed over drinks and dinner at Johnny’s New York Style Pizza Restaurant.
